A SMILE IN ABHERI ! ---- Harikrishna Mamidi Shall I reveal a boy's thing now, dear and confess a mind's matter, clear... Yes, A smile can make magic And make my heart to get hijack, As, Some times it is the crescent moon And at other times, its the full moon's shine... It can spell- bound And make me speechless, As, it is a rising sun at dawn And a gentle breeze at dusk... It can make miracles And shatter me into bits-n-pieces, As, it lies in the sharpness of a rose garden And sweetness of a sugar-cane... It can make wonders And pour new vision into my eyes, As, it derives from a field of sunflowers And a beam of rain- showers... It can create thunders in my thoughts And formulate lightnings, As, it jumps from a cloud of great cheers And a sky- full of pleasant surprises.... It can bring joy n happiness And add life to my smile, As, it hastens from a soothing stream of godavari And a sensitive raga of abheri*... True, your smile can make magic Beyond all the logic... ! *Abheri is a raga in Carnatic music. It is a Janya raga (derived scale), whose Melakarta raga (parent, also known as janaka) is Kharaharapriya. A very popular composition in Abheri raga is Nagumomu Ganaleni, a kriti by Thyagaraja Swamy.
