కపిల రాంకుమార్|| కావ్యములు || \\ మధుకలశము \\ రాయప్రోలు సుబ్బారావు ఈ కావ్యము ఫారసీక భాషలో తొలుత రచింపబడెను. రచించిన మహాకవి పేరు ఉమర్‌ అని ప్రసిద్ధిలోనికి వచ్చెను. 11 వ శతాబ్దము ఉత్తరార్ధములో జననము. 1123లో అస్తమయము. కులవృత్తి గుడారములు తయారుచేయడము. అయినా ఉమరు ఉజ్జ్వల బుద్ధి, చదివి శాస్త్రములోను, గణితశాస్త్రమందును స్నాతకుడాయెను. ప్రామాణిక మయిన వర్ణగణితమును వ్రాసెను. జ్యోతిశ్శాస్త్ర సంబంధమయిన గ్రహచార నిర్ణయములు, గుణించి ప్రకటించెను. తత్త్వాన్వేషణ సాగించెను. అంతరములలో అప్పుడప్పుడు రచించిన పద్యములు ఖయ్యాము అనుపేర ప్రచారమునకు వచ్చెను. వీనిని ఇంగ్లీషులో ఫిట్‌జిరాల్డు అను ఆంగ్లకవి అనువదించెను. ఆ అనువాదమూలముగా ఉమరు కావ్యప్రతీతియు, అందలి మూలసార చర్చయు బహుముఖముల ప్రసరించి, ఖ్యాతికి వచ్చినవి. దానికి అనువాదమిది. ఖయ్యామును గుఱించి పూర్వాపరవాదములను తఱచి ఒక ఆంగ్లసారస్వతవేత్త ఇలాతేల్చి వ్రాసెను. Its grim philosophy scarcely matters. The cynicism may be persistent; the mood may be a desperate sort of thing at the bottom of all thinking men's minds. But the tune is so gay that even its pessimism seems blithe. The quick but melodious turns of the poem tease us out of the thought. We may argue about the meaning, but we are indisputably compelled and even convinced by its music. ఇందులో ఇమిడియున్న అబోధవేదాంతమును అలావుండనీ! ప్రసక్తమయ్యే నిర్వేదము పట్టువదలకపోనీ! ఇంకా - తత్త్వజిజ్ఞాసువుల కందఱికీ చిత్తవృత్తి అడుగున కదలుచుండే అవేక్షణ కూడా నిలవనీ! అయినా - ఖయ్యాము పద్యాలలో పల్లవించే అనాసక్తరాగములో అనిర్వేదముకూడా చవులు తేరుతున్నది. రచనలో అనాలసంగా ప్రసరించే మధురభంగిమలు అందలి మీమాంసా భారమును బలవంతంగా ఆవలకు లాగివేస్తున్నవి. ఇందున్న అర్థమేమిటని మనము వివాదపడవచ్చును; కాని కావ్యములోనున్న మాధుర్యము మనను నచ్చించకమానదు. ________________________________________ Dr. C.R.
